This is one of the most important Polish greetings. In fact, it’s so important that you will see it AGAIN in this guide. How do you say it? It sounds like “chesht.” Kind of like chest.

How do you say “hey” in Polish? This is how. A super casual Polish greeting. So, if you were looking for ways to say “hey” or “hi,” use this.
- Good morning.
- Dzień dobry.
Let’s not forget morning greetings. You can use this Polish greeting from 6AM to 11AM. You could also use it at 5AM but who is awake then, huh? Not me. Not PDF Jeff.

From 12PM to 5PM, you can use the… same exact phrase as “good morning.”
- Good evening
- Dobry wieczór.
Now, what if it’s 6PM? You should say “good evening.”

Asking someone how they are or “what’s up” are other valid Polish greetings.

- Jak się masz?
Asking “how are you” can indeed be counted as a greeting. People use it all the time when running into their friends.
Parting Polish Greetings
Parting greetings are ways to say bye. So, if you’re learning to say “hello” in Polish, you should also learn to say “bye.” So, here we go.
- Bye
- Pa
This is a very informal parting greeting. It just means “bye.” You can use it with friends.

- Cześć
You already learned that Cześć means hello but it also means bye. Also an informal phrase.

This is the most polite way to say “bye” in Polish so be sure to remember it.

How do you say Merry Christmas in Polish? Use this phrase:
- Wesołych Świąt!
- Merry Christmas
Polish Christmas Greetings aside, you can say other holiday greetings as well.

- Happy Holidays
- Cieszyć się wakacjami!
- Enjoy the holidays
- Szczęśliwego nowego roku!
- Have a happy New Year
Polish Birthday Greetings
To wish someone a happy birthday in Polish, just say…
- Wszystkiego najlepszego!
- Pronunciation: Wshystkyego naylepshego
Or, you can say this super common phrase:
- Sto lat!
- 100 years
Here, you’re literally wishing them to live for a 100 years more, as a way to say “happy birthday” in Polish. Definitely a very natural Polish birthday greeting.
