Your job? As the title suggests… read ’em aloud as much as you want. By doing so, you’re speaking and practicing your speaking muscle. But hey, if you don’t do it, nothing will happen either… So, DO IT!

How does reading help me speak a new language? Not just reading, reading aloud. if you’re reading aloud, you’re… guess what… yes, speaking. So, the more you practice reading out loud, the easier the phrases will flow out.
Do I need to know the alphabet/script, or can total beginners use this? You can… the languages that don’t have romanized scripts have transliteration included. HOWEVER… it’s best if you learn the alphabet of your target language.
